To some, the holidays mean a lot of family time and figuring out ways to avoid the inevitable questions of “When are you going to get married” “When are you having kids?” and so on.
So here’s what I’m offering, some solid solutions to get you and the family out of the house. That way you don’t have to listen to your crazy aunt go on and on about how you’re past your prime. Or, how you only have a few more years left as an eligible bachelorette before you hit crazy cat lady status.
At least, that’s just how it happens in my house. Check out these 5 fun activities for your Thanksgiving vacation.
The Checkers are playing the Wild Iowa on Saturday November 28th at 7pm & Sunday November 29th. Tickets start at $10! This is the first season that the Checkers are back in the newly renovated Bojangles Coliseum. With great food options like Bojangles and Queen City Q (my favorite CLT barbecue)!
Starting at 9:30am on Thanksgiving Day 11/26, this is a great excuse to get out of the house so you don’t have to help with the Thanksgiving cooking. This parade has been around since 1947 and features dance performances, marching bands from the NC region and plenty of floats! This year, there is an app available to give you all the information you need.
What would the South be without NASCAR? On Saturday, November 28th you can attend the first free tree lighting on the NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza. It’s a great way to kick off the Christmas season, from 5-9pm with lots of music, food trucks and a life size snow globe!
Just get out of the house. Take a walk in one of the most beautiful parks in Charlotte. When the weather is beautiful, the park is packed with plenty of people and makes for great people watching.
With plenty of options for shopping, Target, Wal-Mart, and more! Take some time to map your shopping route to get the most out of Black Friday. South Park Mall opens at 6pm. Good luck with the crowds, I’ll be just waking up from my turkey coma.
These five ideas should keep you and your family busy all Thanksgiving long. Enjoy the holiday, enjoy your family, and most importantly, enjoy some delicious turkey.
