My last article with EWP was 7 Desserts in Charlotte You'll Regret Not Trying. I see a trend because here I am again, excited to share more SWEET ideas with you! Here is a countdown on some festive and delicious treats you don’t want to miss this Fourth of July weekend here in Charlotte.
Perfect to pick up for a crowd if you want to spend time relaxing and not much time in the kitchen.
1. Macaroons - Sunflour Baking Company
I’ll start with one of my go-to spots in town, Sunflour Baking Co. They always have the most amazing desserts and pastries. This red, white, and blue macaroon goes to show they are pretty too. No such thing as "too pretty to eat" right?!
2. Rum Punch - Seoul Food Meat Co.
The most festive drink is at one of the newer hot spots in town. Seoul Food Meat Co is located right around the corner from Wooden Robot in SouthEnd. If you're out and about this weekend, they have a spacious patio that would be perfect to enjoy this American-themed rum punch. I’ve also heard their wings are incredible!
If you're not hosting a party but going to one instead, grab a festive dessert on the way! Here are some great options of local spots I always visit.
3. Cupcakes - SAS Cupcakes
SAS Cupcakes was one of the first cupcake places here and they never let you down. These cupcakes are pilled high with frosting and topped with the cutest 4th of July flare.
4. Cake Truffles - Hey Sugar Shop
I mean, how great would these be for a neighborhood cook out or friend’s pool party? I’ve brought cake truffles to parties in the past because sometimes all you need is a little bit to satisfy your sweet tooth! Great location to swing by if you're headed out to Lake Wylie for the weekend.
These flavors sound ahh-mazing! Oreo, Cheerwine Pound Cake, Fudge Brownie, Rocky Road, Strawberry, and Lemon Cheesecake.
Insider Tip: Even though Hey Sugar Shop is in Rock Hill, they will deliver to Charlotte.
5. Bundt Cake - Nothing Bundt Cakes
Another great cake option is the ridiculously good, Nothing Bundt Cakes. They are a crowd pleaser and easy to share. These are cakes with style and class, my friends and family go crazy for them. They are even sold in miniature size which would be great for kids!
There are so many options, but I'm going to end with two that I'm personally treating myself to this weekend.
6. Mixed Berry Pie - Big View Diner
Located in Ballantyne, Big View Diner has plenty of options including red and blue donuts, cookies, cakes and pastries. However, after I tried this almond crumble crusted berry pie, I had to share! I was born in Charlotte and have a Southern family, so I'll be bringing a homemade berry pie for all of us to enjoy!
7. Sparkle and Pops - King of Pops
The last treat I’ll be indulging in to celebrate 4th of July is one of these popsicles from King of Pops. You may have already seen these on Instagram promoting our Splash Bash on Monday at Craft City Social Club. These champagne pops will be so refreshing, we hope to see you all there!
Have a safe weekend Charlotte! I hope it's filled with tons of good food, drinks, friends and family. Follow along my blog @queencitychic for more local food and fashion in the area.
