Ladies, Have You Tried Pole Dance Charlotte?

I Had Always Wanted to Try Pole Dancing!

Growing up in Las Vegas, I get a lot of questions about the nightlife there and you know, “what happens in Vegas.” There are a lot of misconceptions about “Sin City” and what really does happen there.

I think I felt the same way about going to a pole dancing class here in Charlotte. I had always wanted to try it, but thought I would be judged when I asked friends to come with me, so I went alone.

Low and behold, when “checking in” on Facebook, I had over 50 people like it and 10 comments of people saying they wanted to come or had gone before.

I really had no idea what I was walking into when I attended my first class at Pole Dance Charlotte.

I had seen it advertised on Groupon a few times, so I decided to give it a shot. The studio is located right outside of Uptown/the start of NoDa on Tryon. Thankfully the instructor explains where it is, or else you would totally get lost.

Walking in, there’s a living room type set up outside the actual studio where you wait for class to start. The walls are lined with nametags of attendees “dancer” names.

Kelly is the owner and instructor there. She has 10 years experiencing in teaching pole dancing and has competed in national competitions.

You are allowed to bring heels, but it’s not required. I suggest it though, because it definitely makes the experience more fun! Also, don’t worry about how old you are, what you look like, or your background.

My class was filled with a wide variety of people. Ages 20-60. An actual dancer. And a Christian wearing an Elevation shirt.

You have to take the introductory course before any other class. This helps you decide if you are more into the fitness side of it or the sensual side. Kelly really makes everyone feel comfortable. This is one of the things I always worry about when taking a new class.  I don’t want the instructor to single me out for doing something wrong. I know they are only helping, but it’s embarrassing for me. Kelly is great!

Once you’re done with the introductory class, like I said, you will decide between the fitness side (classes are on Tuesday and Thursday) or the sensual side of pole dancing (classes are on Monday and Wednesday.

Seriously, go in there with an open mind and you will have a blast!

If you’re too nervous to go alone, let me know and I’ll totally go with you!
