The Queen City Urban Art Showcase is a family-friendly creative networking event that features exhibits from some of Charlotte’s most talented artists.
This art showcase was founded by Michael Calloway and LeQyan Wilson of Create Amazing LLC, a small business resource and event planning company. The showcase started last month and has already been featured on Fox News 46 Charlotte and WBTV 3 CBS News Charlotte, as well as other local podcasts and radio stations. Each month, five local artists display their work for the public.
LeQyan reached out to me letting me know about the show and asked if I would mind coming to check it out. What perfect timing, as I have recently been interested in exploring more of Charlotte’s art scene myself. When I arrived at the showcase, I introduced myself and we talked for a bit. I learned a lot about what the vision of this art show is. LeQyan and Michael have met many creatives in their line of work, and wanted a way to bring community exposure to them. All genres of art are accepted and creativity is highly encouraged. After we chatted, I started to take a look around.
What you'll find especially unique with the Queen City Urban Art Showcase, is that there are artists performing live exhibits.
It is one thing to see the final work, but an entirely different feeling to actually watch them in the process of bringing their vision to life.
I also got the opportunity to meet and talk with Will Taylor, one of my favorite local photographers I have been following on Instagram. He is a lifestyle, portrait, and wedding photographer, but if you are obsessed with Charlotte skyline photos like I am, you’ll find he knows how to take them.
I love that this showcase gives you that opportunity to not only experience new local art, but also network with those you already appreciate.
