Coaltrane’s just celebrated five months at their second location off of Central Avenue! Locally owned and operated by Chef Mike Libretto (also of the droolicious Libretto’s) behind the scenes, new seasons call for new menu items. Definitely, start with the char-grilled wings. Toss in the new maple chipotle sauce, dip it in the salsa roja, and prepare to be in awe. Chef Libretto outdid himself with the sauces! Their wings are only $.75 on Monday’s.
The Chopped Salad is pretty incredible with romaine, roasted peppers, tomato, olives, fresh mozzarella, balsamic vinaigrette, and the crispy chickpeas really set it off. You can always add roasted chicken ($2) or grilled flank steak ($5) for additional protein.
You can also indulge in the sliced flank steak or Chorizo as a Char Grilled Platter that comes with two sides for $12.99. I would suggest the wild rice salad (yes, cold!) or street corn casserole. The chimichurri drizzle on this dish will leave you craving more.
Last but not least, my favorite was the ‘Bueno Bowl.’ The maple chipotle chicken is spot on, accompanied by black beans, avocado, jalapeño pico, queso fresco, and wild rice. The flavors are delicious! The substitution for grilled chorizo or flank steak for the Coltranes’ Bowls is just $3.
Their new patio is just waiting for you to embrace the city view, and can even be rented out for events. Be sure to check out Coaltranes in Plaza for not only delicious grub, but pretty sweet specials. Besides the $.75 wing Monday’s, they have $2 Domestic bottles on Tuesday’s, $4 Wine Wednesday, kids eat free Thursday, $3 drafts + music bingo (at 8:30PM) on Friday’s, and $2 off the Fresco Bowl every Saturday & Sunday, as well as $5 Bloody Mary’s and $3 mimosas!
