Pop the Top in South End Brings Local Flavor and Charm
We had the chance to spend some time at South End’s very own Craft Beer Shop, Pop the Top. Located in the heart of South End, it is what every Charlotte realtor swears by – location, location, location. Nestled in between South End’s Blaze Pizza, Bulgogi Box and near Leroy Fox and Price’s Chicken Coop, it’s the ideal place for a pre-dinner brew, or for a perfect nightcap along the light rail.
Inside, you have the choice of grabbing your favorite local beers to enjoy at home or sitting at the bar for your pick from a constantly rotating tap list. The selection at Pop the Top is regionally powered – where you’ll find harder to find specialty brews from around North and South Carolina along with your familiar area favorites. A handpicked selection ranging from cider, wine, beer, and kombucha makes it hard- pressed to come by for a visit and not find a new favorite.
Love for the Carolinas
You could say that Pop the Top’s story starts in the QC’s backyard, where Ketan and Kathy met during college at N.C. State. Lucky for us, their story brought them to Charlotte more than 11 years ago and with them, the latest addition to South End’s beer scene.
As soon as you walk in, their passion for creating a space where you can enjoy great drinks and great company is evident. Less obvious is the inspiration for Pop the Top’s logo, Ketan and Kathy’s late Labrador, Louie. Louie’s memory lives on in the legacy of Pop the Top, where you can find the perfect dog-friendly outdoor patio overlooking the streets of South End. So, next time you’re wondering where to go for a relaxing night with friends, head down to Pop the Top where there’s a high chance you might find me sitting outside with my pup, cold brew in hand.
