The Roasting Company Brings Southern Inspired Dining to Plaza: Grand Opening

With the cold weather moving into Charlotte, it was only natural we made a stop at The Roasting Company in Plaza Midwood. The neighborhood welcomed RoCo in November and is the newest of one of three locations in North and South Carolina. Like its sister locations in Montford and Rock Hill, this new Plaza addition is home to Southern inspired sides and plates and its specialty – Costa Rican marinated rotisserie chicken.

RoCo’s new location is spacious and with plenty of room at the bar and open sitting areas, you can go in and grab your food to go or sit down for a meal. Not a stranger to the city, RoCo’s first location opened in 1991 and has seen the city grow and blossom. Owner Doug Bell explained that Plaza Midwood was exactly what he and his three partners wanted for the next addition. Doug Bell, along with his brother Paul, Thiago Lopes and David Allen, did not rush the expansion efforts when looking for a third location. Doug explained that they wanted a neighborhood that spoke to their love of Charlotte local business and their passion for the community and cuisine they have grown over the past 26 years.

Located in the heart of Plaza Midwood, Plaza locals and those visiting for the first time will be relieved to see RoCo’s kitchen lights and a full menu available into late night. My personal vote is for the Monterey Chicken Wrap and the Garlicky New Potatoes, and whether you go in for a big game or after a night out in Plaza, The Roasting Company will be sure to fit the bill.
