The Waterman: Charlotte’s New Go-To Rooftop Oyster Bar Joins SouthEnd

The Waterman

No one can argue that South End’s growth has been explosive over the past couple of months. With additional traffic and continued construction, I’m happy to announce that there is a silver lining in the form of Charlotte’s newest Oyster Bar: The Waterman. Here are five things you can look forward to when visiting South End’s soon-to-be newest addition.

1. Location, Location
Located across the street from the New Bern Station light rail stop, The Waterman is conveniently located right in South End. Neighboring this new location is South End’s Harris Teeter, Nektar Juice Bar, and Haber & Dash – so the planning possibilities are endless.

2. Cuisine & Comfort
Paul Manley, the man behind this South End endeavor (also the owner of Uptown’s Sea Level), is creating a space where you can enjoy fresh seafood whether you are in your Sunday best or are just grabbing a quick bite after a workout. His goal – is for you to enjoy yourself and the best seafood South End will have to offer.

3. Oyster Happy Hour
We all know that it is always 5 o’clock somewhere, but what could be better than a regular happy hour? That’s right, The Waterman will offer an Oyster Happy Hour, with details to come.

4. Fresh and Sustainable Seafood
The menu promises to be full of unique, fun, flavorful, and out-of-the-box dishes and what is being claimed as Charlotte’s best-Fried Fish Sandwich. So the only thing left to do is wait for the doors to open early September and “sea” for ourselves.

5. Views
Instagram and foodie-friendly, the two-story venue will give you some of the best views of Uptown Charlotte as you munch on a mouth-watering lobster roll and with a rooftop terrace and bar you will be sure to leave satisfied and even more in love with our city.
