handmade card from Pura Vida boutique in NoDa

NoDa, short for North Davidson, is the neighborhood for people who love colors, creativity, music, drinks, and food. It’s claimed as Charlotte’s art district, filled with several local artists and business owners.

To break it down for you, I’ve separated some of the coolest places by category, although many businesses overlap these categories, making NoDa super eclectic and unique!

Coffee Shops

  • Amélie’s
  • Smelly Cat
  • Trade N Lore
  • MacTabby Cat Cafe

Desserts

  • Amélie’s
  • Reigning Donuts
  • Popbar

Restaurants

  • Crêpe Cellar
  • Haberdish
  • Cabo Fish Taco
  • Sabor Latin Street Grill
  • Benny Pennello’s

Breweries

  • NoDa Brewing
  • Heist Brewing
  • Birdsong Brewing Co.

Boutiques

  • Puda Vida
  • Ruby’s Gift
  • Summerbird
  • Bartique

My go-to coffee shop in NoDa has its interior filled with quirky furniture that seem to come from all types of different places, yet fit altogether in a cozy café called Amélie’s. Although every coffee shop is worthy of visiting, you can visit Amélie’s French Bakery & Café at all hours of the day, every day of the week. And if you get sick of Amélie’s, there’s also several others options down some blocks.

Reigning Donuts is the cutest donut stop you could make in Charlotte. They have tables outside so you can enjoy the view while munching on some donuts. On Mondays, you get a donut free with your purchase (because they have coffee too). Mondays just got a little better.

Pizza NoDa Charlotte“That slice of pizza is way too big” – said no one ever. Benny Pennello’s pizza has 7 types of cheeses (yes, I know the box says 5, but that’s a lie). Obviously they needed to add more variety of cheeses to make giant slices of pizza. Can we also talk about how it was only $4? Benny Pennello’s just became my favorite pizza joint.

I also got the chance to meet with store-owner, Teresa. She’s ran Pura Vida for almost 15 years now. Although locally-owned, inside her shop, you can find hand-made pieces from all over the world. In the photo, I bought a cute card designed by an artist from NYC, it says “Congratulations on your new home”.
