Valentine's Day in Charlotte

Wednesday (Feb 14th) is Valentine’s Day! I dug deep into the Charlotte event calendars to come up with a top 10 list … I’m hoping the Mint Museum will get me better results than the coupon book for free hugs that I gave my wife last year… Here is the list in no particular order.

Zip line and Dine at the Whitewater Center: Join the U.S. National Whitewater Center and fly on their longest zip line that spans 1,625 feet across the park. After your zip line experience, you will be treated to a chef inspired three-course dinner. Price is $75 per person. Craft beer and wine will also be available for purchase. http://usnwc.org/relax/adventure-dining/zipline-dine-valentines-day-edition/

Free Admission to Mint Museum: This would be great to do before or after dinner on Wednesday. And best of all they are offering free admission from 5 pm to 9 pm at both locations. Go get your history on! http://www.mintmuseum.org/happenings/1668/free-wednesday-evenings-157/

Free Musical Comedy Night at Free Range Brewing: Come out for Music, Improv, Friends, Beer, and Fun! See the Queen City’s Musical Improv Comedy Team – Background Noise! This is a free event at Free Range Brewing. It kicks off at 7 pm on Wednesday. Check out their Facebook page under events to get more details. Even though it is a free event, you still need to get tickets/reservations for the evening. https://www.facebook.com/pg/FreeRangeBrewing/events/?ref=page_internal

The Speedpark at Concord Mills: Maybe you want to step outside the city for a day. Take a 15-mile trip up 85 to The Speedpark at Concord Mills. They have four outdoor tracks, a newly renovated 18 hole miniature golf course, bungee jump, and game room. They offer a $35 unlimited everything pass if you want to do it all! They also offer a $15 fast pass so that you can skip the lines. http://www.thespeedpark.com/attractions-price/

Beer and Chocolate Pairing at Legion Brewing: Legion is teaming up with Piedmont Bleus Chocolate for a night of beer and chocolate! The event kicks off Wednesday at 6 PM. The night will consist of a flight of beer, brewhouse tour, and chocolates. There are only 26 seats for the event, and it’s first to come/first serve. Seats are $14 per person and can be purchased the day of at the bar. For more information check out their Events page on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/LegionBrewing/

Spa Day: Who doesn’t like a day at the spa!? I would suggest checking out Ballantyne Spa http://www.theballantynehotel.com/the-spa-at-ballantyne/ Ritz-Carlton http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/hotels/charlotte/spa OR if you don’t mind a little drive up north … Rock Barn Spa in Conover http://www.rockbarn.com All locations have limited availability, so get your appointments in!

Charlotte Center City Carriage Tours: Take a romantic ride through the city with a private horse and carriage ride. Cost is $20 per person for a 20-minute ride. They will be operating from 2 pm – 9 pm on Wednesday. There are three ways to book; you can call them at 704.301.5111, visit their website http://charlottecentercitytours.com, or walk on up. Pick up location is at Trade & Tryon street intersection.

Go On A Blind Date: FireWater Restaurant and Lounge in the University area is looking for the next Mr. and Mrs. Valentines. You show up and pair with a date to go through a speed dating game course, which consists of a series of couple’s games. The goal is to score as many points as you can with as many different dates as possible. The couple with the most points wins the title of Mr. and Mrs. Valentines. Tickets are $25, which includes one free drink. You can purchase your ticket at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/my-blind-valentine-tickets-42739650445?aff=es2

Topgolf: This is the hottest place in Charlotte right now! And you can now book reservations online to get the time you want. Prices are $25 per hour from open to noon – $35 hr. from noon to 5 – $45 hr. from 5 to close. They are booking up fast! And don’t forget to get your membership card ahead of time. https://topgolf.com/us/charlotte/pricing/

Cocktails at The Punch Room: Bob Peters is by far my favorite bartender in Charlotte. He creates the perfect cocktail every time. Bob will be serving two specialty cocktails on Wednesday. The first is a “Love Punch” featuring passionfruit, prosecco, and gin, garnished with a hibiscus flower. The second is a bourbon, passion fruit, and orange cocktail. They are also preparing a specialty dish comprising foie gras with passionfruit, fresh basil, and spiced bread. Sounds fancy and delightful! The Punch Room is open 5pm-11pm on Wednesday. http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/hotels/charlotte/dining/punch-room
